Skills, competence and attracting new talent

Every part of the construction industry is desperate to attract new talent and to tackle skills shortages. And every part of the construction industry is also tasked with demonstrating the competence of its workers. This demands a new approach to communications.

Not just jobs, careers for pioneers

According to the CITB, the UK construction industry needs to recruit over a quarter of a million additional workers to meet demand by 2026. There are skills shortages across all professions and trades in the built environment.

We don't believe construction has an 'image problem', more a problem of 'image gaps'. The range of career opportunities in construction and property is exceptional, and there are very positive stories to be told.

LMC uses its communications superpowers to boost clients’ recruitment and retention, and to improve understanding, knowledge and competence in the built environment.

LMC is currently working with many construction employers, industry bodies and trade organisations on recruitment and careers communications campaigns, as well as helping with educational outreach and initiatives to boost technical understanding and competence, including:

  • Influencer campaigns to reach young people and promote construction careers via Talentview Construction.
  • Promotion of construction apprenticeships, traineeships and T-levels.
  • Virtual careers fairs and campaigns to retain experienced talent in the industry, via the Construction Talent Retention Scheme.
  • Promotion of new qualification programmes and career opportunities in timber engineering.
