Based near Northampton, Moulton College is a construction college offering a range of bricklaying, carpentry and joinery, and electrical trade qualifications.

In 2022, the college hosted a major event in association with the NFB and Constructing Excellence, looking at the future skills needed in construction and providing networking opportunities for local employers, construction technology innovators, school pupils and Moulton's own construction students.

LMC provided assistance with two parts of the event:

  • An exhibition showcasing future technologies such as robotics, remote plant operations, augmented and virtual reality, drone technology, exo-skeletons and green technologies.
  • A facilitated workshop bringing more than 50 people together - including industry leaders, civil servants, employers, tutors and students - to meet the Construction Minister and discuss the future of skills training in construction, including what colleges need to teach students to best prepare them for the future and how we should nurture and encourage young people into long-term careers in construction.

In addition to providing widespread media coverage for Moulton College, including multiple BBC radio interviews organised by LMC, the event was used to inform future decisions about the college's approach to training and education in construction trades.

The event explored the role of new technology to boost productivity, to deliver a more sustainable built environment and to draw new talent to construction.

"What we saw today was a fantastic example of how we're trying to link people who could be, should be, and want to be in this industry with companies who want to employ them. The more we can do this, and show the people the skills and opportunities out there in construction, the better."
Lee Rowley MP Construction Minister (2022)
