Timber Development UK

Establishing the largest, most comprehensive supply chain body for timber in the UK - connecting and inspiring more than 1,500 organisations to build a better world through wood

TDUK timber structure

Timber Development UK was formed by the merger of two of the largest and longest-established organisations in the timber industry: the Timber Trade Federation (TTF) and the Timber Research and Development Association (TRADA). It has now created a single supply chain organisation to promote all types of business in the supply chain, from sawmill to specifier.

Building a new voice in timber

Looking to capitalise on growing interest in designing with timber, Timber Development UK acts an agent of change towards more sustainable, low carbon forms of construction.

It needed a knowledgeable, ideas-driven consultancy to help it become a ‘content creation engine’ to support suppliers and designers and to reach target audiences. So LMC was appointed in 2022 to establish the new TDUK brand around launch, to communicate the organisation’s story and to motivate its membership across timber importers, merchants, manufacturers, architects, designers, engineers, installers, contractors and trades.

Our work focused on:

  • Managing the TDUK press office, targeting priority media with comment, articles and releases
  • A journalist contact programme for TDUK's spokespeople
  • Creating detailed technical reports and case studies
  • Developing collaborative communications campaigns with universities and industry organisations, with authoritative joint content
  • Organising TDUK events and speaker programmes at industry events such as Futurebuild and Timber Expo
