Today is Penny Norton’s birthday. And what better way to celebrate than the publication of Penny’s and my book this morning by Routledge – a book that explores best practice PR and communications for the property sector.

‘Promoting Property: Insight, Experience and Best Practice’ is aimed at public relations and marketing professionals working in the sector as well as senior leaders who are looking to develop their organisation’s communication strategy.

Covering both the private and public sector, chapters include how to communicate on behalf of local authorities’ development arms and housing associations, how to promote various types of residential and commercial development, and working with proptech companies and property consultancies.

We have had chapters supplied by contributors from a wide range of specialisms in property PR. They cover many aspects of communication theory, strategy and technique.

My sincere thanks to go to everyone who contributed – there is a HUGE amount of work that has gone into this book. And my special thanks to Penny who definitely did most of the heavy lifting on this one.

Promoting Property is the first of two books focused on communications in the built environment that Penny and I have edited.

The second book, on ‘Communication Construction: Insight, Experience and Best Practice’ is due later this year.

As Penny says, “Whether you work in-house, in an agency or as a freelancer, there is something in here for you. The Promoting Property book covers a broad range of sectors and its emphasis on strategy ensures that all aspects of a property communications campaign are covered – from initial research to deploying and evaluating a wide range of tactics.”

The book has been kindly endorsed by the Chartered Institute of Public Relations and its Construction and Property Special Interest Group (CAPSIG), and has received some great reviews already (see below).
