Pivoting to Facebook Live to keep customer contacts during Covid

Weber is a UK manufacturer of exceptional renders and decorative finishes, tile fixing products, floor screeds, technical mortars and external wall insulation systems.

As part of Saint-Gobain's wider sustainability mission to become carbon Net Zero by 2050, Weber has its own ambitious sustainability targets to become a more sustainable construction materials business.

Challenge

During our work with Weber over five years, we have helped the company tackle multiple challenges, including launching innovative new products, promoting sustainability initiatives, creating a steady flow of case studies (not easy for product manufacturers who may not always know where and how their products are being used), and defending key markets which are under threat from inferior quality products.

In just one example of our work with Weber, during the first Covid lockdown in 2020, Weber had to close its technical training academy and many staff were put on furlough. Faced with not being able to host in-person training sessions, but construction trades still working through lockdown, Weber needed to explore new ways to easily keep in touch with its customers and maintain quality applications.

Strategy

LMC’s answer was to use Facebook Live and to host 10-minute interactive training events. Tea Break Talks were live-streamed fortnightly. Practical topics were covered, including how to prevent cracks in render and how to achieve brick effect render finishes.

LMC provided bespoke social media training and coaching to support Weber in this new activity.
