Talentview Construction

A major initiative to recruit new talent into UK construction via apprenticeships and entry level roles.
More than 11,000 students using the platform by April 2024
135 FE colleges, 44 universities and 39 schools engaged over two years
Talentview Construction was launched in 2021 as an early careers initiative supported by Government, the Construction Leadership Council, universities, colleges, CITB and construction industry employers.

Talentview Construction (TVC) helps candidates to browse opportunities by signing up to alerts for job and training opportunities and building their own online profile so employers can find them more easily. Employers can use it to showcase their business to talented new recruits on the TVC site, and upload all their early career vacancies, including traineeships, apprenticeships and graduate jobs. They can also search for suitable candidates and directly contact students and apprentices, as well as connecting more closely with schools, universities and construction colleges.

Challenge

In the midst of the Covid crisis and following our work supporting the Construction Talent Retention Scheme (CTRS), LMC was appointed to launch Talentview Construction to talented people looking for work experience, apprenticeships and entry roles in the built environment.

To do this, we had to work collaboratively with the CLC, CITB and major employers to capture the hearts and minds of prospective early careers recruits. No easy task, as this also involved debunking misconceptions and myths about construction careers, and finding engaging new ways to showcase the huge range of opportunities across the sector.

Strategy

Our strategy was to find and work with successful construction talent to tell their stories and inspire would-be recruits. We:
  • Collaborated with TVC’s engagement team, the GoConstruct team, CLC Young Ambassadors, and progressive industry employers to gather case studies, stories and links to a diverse group of young people working in the industry.
  • Developed our own Young Influencers campaign, providing social media coaching and support to create authentic content for Instagram and TikTok.
  • Delivered organic and paid-for multi-platform social media campaigns on Instagram, TikTok and LinkedIn, peaking activity during major weeks like National Careers Week, National Apprenticeships Week, Green Careers Week and exam results.
  • Created PR campaigns to land TV, radio and press coverage.
