This December, construction businesses are giving back and showing their generosity. From sock selfies to e-cards, volunteering and international donations, festive fundraisers are raising money for causes that matter this Christmas. In this month’s round-up, Katrina Wallace, spotlights five initiatives making a difference in the industry.

Festive feet: Hollis

Independent built environment consultants Hollis gifted #HoHoHollis branded socks to their clients and colleagues to support The Brain Tumour Charity. For every sock selfie shared on social media, Hollis will donate £10. Combined with other fundraisers, so far they have raised £8,000 to help the world’s leading brain tumour charity support those living with a brain tumour, and help fund research to find new treatments.

Christmas card appeal: CRASH

Around 50 companies have taken part in the CRASH Christmas card appeal this year. In exchange for a donation, companies receive an e-card to send out as their Christmas card, raising awareness of the construction industry charity. Donations will help CRASH construct and refurbish accommodation for homeless people and those who need end-of-life care.

All year round: Band of Builders

The Band of Builders charity helps those within the industry all year round. Builders volunteer to help fellow tradespeople in their hour of need, and they have recently completed their 48th project. To help the fundraising effort this yuletide, a portion of every sale of the BoB Christmas Hoodie goes straight to supporting the charity.

Toys for kids: Bellway

The team behind Bellway’s developments across the north west have, for the third year running, collected and donated hundreds of toys and gifts to Cash for Kids ‘Misson Christmas’ appeal. With the cost of living continuing to hit families hard, these presents are helping children enjoy the magic of Christmas.
