AI does construction at Christmas

LMC's AI assistants have been working with Santa's elves to create this special guide to construction.

A diverse group of construction workers in safety gear and hard hats stands in front of a large decorated Christmas tree inside a modern glass building atrium, representing AI's integration into the construction industry during the 2024 holiday season.
Artificial intelligence (AI) is revolutionising the construction industry by enhancing efficiency, accuracy, and safety. AI-driven tools streamline project management, optimise resource allocation, and predict project risks. Technologies like machine learning improve design processes, while AI-powered drones and robotics support site monitoring and precision tasks. Predictive analytics aid maintenance, reducing downtime and costs. By automating repetitive tasks, AI allows professionals to focus on strategic decision-making, driving innovation in an industry poised for smarter, more sustainable construction practices.....
Ah. Bah Humbug. Enough of the usual blurb about AI in construction. AI probably wrote all that anyway.

AI's Alternative Guide to Construction

What we really want to know is: what would happen if (when) AI takes over construction completely?
A man wearing glasses examines holographic architectural displays and building blueprints projected on a transparent screen, showing 3D models of modern multi-story residential buildings with accompanying technical data and design specifications.
So LMC's AI Assistants were put to work to create our Christmas card this year: AI's Alternative Guide to Construction.

Page by page, it sets out how to identify a development opportunity, design an office building, use a bit of BIM, appoint the main contractors, lay the foundations, get Building Control and fire safety approval, do internal fitout and external cladding, and hold a Christmas party in the completed building.

As is often our way, this year's 'card' is irreverent, silly and not in the least bit reliable. The AI-generated text, typos and images are all designed to raise a smile, not a structure.
Five professionals gather around a table with laptops and documents in a modern office with city views, engaged in collaborative discussion and planning.
Our Christmas-cards-which-are-never-really-a-card have been going for almost 20 years. It's our opportunity to flex our creative muscles for ourselves rather than for clients, for once. You can see the whole lot here.

And if you'd like to be added to the mailing list to receive your own copy, get in touch with your best/worst construction-related Christmas joke (written by AI or not, we don't mind). Or you can download a copy here: AI's Alternative Guide to Construction
