We were overwhelmed by the creativity and enthusiasm for our Christmas card competition. You clearly had so much festive fun with your designs!
In the anniversary year of the first moon landings, we set the challenge to build a recycled, festive moonbase to take Modern Methods of Construction out of this world.
The entries flooded in and it was a very tricky decision, but in the true spirit of democracy we had a judge’s vote. The winners of the inaugural Stellar Prize are as follows:
- Winner: Steve Fawkes – Apollo 15 Landing Site at Hadley Plain (above)
- Second place: Kate Waller/Annie Penn – STELLAR STEM Destination – Sisterhood Colony (above)
- Joint third place: Adam Schrieber, Weber (above)
- Joint third place: Jayne Cox, Fusion Spaces (above)
Take a look at the full shortlist here:
Very many congratulations to the winners and we hope you all enjoyed the challenge as much as we did.
Meanwhile, we wonder what architecture practice Skidmore, Owings & Merrill (SOM) and the European Space Agency will think of your original designs. Will they be inspired to incorporate some of your ideas into their concept for the new moon village?
We’ll watch this space…
