Fire testing and certification
LMC has been working with UL Solutions in the UK since 2017, and in Germany since 2022.
One of our most recent projects has been the launch of major new fire resistance testing laboratory at Blockley, Gloucestershire. The facility, funded by UL Solutions, will benefit manufacturers from the UK, Europe and worldwide who require independent fire testing and certification, including construction product manufacturers seeking UKCA and CE marking services.
Other recent initiatives have included:
- Strategic advice on issues management and lines to take on key areas of UK construction policy
- Support for UL Solutions speakers and staff participating at FIREX, UK Construction Week, Fensterbau, Security Essen, the Glazing Summit and BAU
- Targeted PR and media relations to promote UL Solutions services in curtain walling, rainscreen cladding and facade testing, and door, window and hardware testing and third-party certification for safety and security
- International webinar with ift Rosenheim on UKCA marking.
International expertise
Following publication of the Hackitt Review, UL wanted to engage with the top fire safety influencers in the UK.
Calling on our extensive industry contacts, we arranged meetings in January 2018 between the VP and general manager of UL Solutions' building and life safety technologies division and key UK influencers in the field of fire safety. The meetings allowed UL to share its specialist fire safety knowledge and regulatory insights from the USA and other regions around the world.
A prestigious event in the House of Lords explored the state of fire safety building codes and regulations in the USA, UK and other countries, and brought together a powerful group of international fire safety experts and UK policy makers. Hearing first-hand how other countries have managed major fire incidents and what they have learned from these experiences has helped the UK to deal with some of the most critical issues that the construction industry is facing today.
