Seismic is a cross-sector, platform-based approach to construction, which combines a catalogue of standardised frame and components to deliver better quality buildings faster and with lower embodied and operational carbon.
Creating a consistent narrative
Seismic was developed by a consortium of seven companies, including offsite manufacturers Algeco (formerly the Elliott Group) and McAvoy, Tata Steel, the Manufacturing Technology Centre (MTC), the National Composite Centre (NCC) and Specific (part of Swansea University).
LMC’s original brief was to facilitate a workshop to develop key messages and a coherent narrative for the project. We were then appointed to lead and deliver Work Package 8 – Dissemination.
A condition of the funding from Innovate UK, this was about communicating the project to key industry stakeholders.
Multiple awards
Given the complexity of this joint venture, our first priority was to develop a Seismic brand to bring the consortium together and to ensure that everyone communicated with one voice. This included creating a suite of brand assets, key messages and marketing materials, including social media channels and a new keyword optimised website. In parallel, we helped to brief important stakeholders, including at UK government level, liaising with the construction minister and senior civil servants within BEIS, MoJ, DfE and Homes England.
Our work culminated in an exhibition and launch event at the Seismic demonstrator in 2022, with over 100 VIP delegates. An exclusive, six-page feature was negotiated with Building magazine and we then moved into wider promotion with other media and industry groups.
We collated the evidence and created the entries to submit Seismic into multiple industry awards. In 2022, Seismic achieved:

- Digital Construction Live - Best Offsite/Modular Construction award
- Constructing Excellence Hertfordshire & Bedfordshire - Excellence in Innovation winner
- Constructing Excellence Yorkshire & Humber - Excellence in Innovation winner
- Offsite Awards 2022 - Finalist in the Offsite Pioneer of the Year and Product Innovation of the Year awards
- NCE TechFest Awards 2022 - Finalist for Best Use of Technology: Offsite and Modular
