Liz found her natural home in construction and property PR in 1989. She worked as press officer for Barton Willmore Partnership (architects and town planners) and five years as head of PR for the NHBC, with several years in-between as a PR consultant working with commercial property developers, housebuilders and energy efficiency specialists. In 1990 she was involved in the UK's first national scheme for the energy assessment of buildings - the fore-runner of today's Energy Performance Certificates.
Before setting up her own company in 2001, Liz was an associate director at top 20 corporate communications and design agency Fishburn Hedges.
There she provided strategic advice and hands-on PR support to private and public sector organisations including National Grid, BAA Property, Lynton, Shell International, BT Property, One NorthEast, Asite, The Countryside Agency, the Federation of Master Builders, Equitas and Nuffield Hospitals.
Since 2001, Liz has worked at a senior level with public and private sector organisations and industry bodies. Her public sector experience includes a major communications review for English Nature (now part of Natural England), and confidential facilitation services for other NDPBs.
She has particular expertise in issues-led PR for construction and property industry membership organisations such as the Association of Consultant Approved Inspectors, the British Woodworking Federation, the UK Timber Frame Association, NHER and SAVA, and the Chartered Institue of Building.
In January 2011, Liz was appointed chairman of TrustMark, the Government-backed scheme that helps homeowners find trustworthy tradesmen to work on their homes. Liz is the former chairman of CAPSIG, the Chartered Institute of Public Relations' Construction and Property Special Interest Group. She is a Fellow of both the CIPR and the Institute of Internal Communications, and a member of the IBP and MK50 Constructing Excellence groups. She is a Trustee of the Construction Youth Trust and has been a judge for both the CIPR Pride Awards and Headline Property Awards. In 2009 Liz was co-opted as a member of the Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB) Stakeholder & External Communications Board.
Liz is also an experienced facilitator, trained by the Environment Council in stakeholder dialogue, and a specialist in the use of art and graphics in facilitating business meetings. She has a BA (Combined Hons) in English and Fine Art.
"I wholeheartedly recommend Liz Male to any organisation in search of high quality, professional communications advice and hands-on support."
Neil Hedges, Chief Executive, Fishburn Hedges
